These terms cover geteyesopen.com, the weekly lesson, the guides we sell and the Open Book program. Eyes Open is run by Blue Eyed Capital LLC ("we", "us"). By using the site or buying from it, you agree to these terms. Questions: hello@geteyesopen.com.
Education, not engineering advice
Eyes Open teaches. It does not give advice for your building.
Jon Weiskopf is a licensed Professional Engineer. On this site, in the lessons, the guides, the emails and the Open Book sessions, he is teaching, not acting as your engineer. Nothing here creates an engineer-client relationship, and nothing here is a professional engineering service, an inspection, or an engineering opinion on your building.
It is also not legal, tax, financial or investment advice.
Everything we share is our opinion and professional experience. Every building is different. Before you act, have a qualified professional look at your building.
No guarantee of results
We teach what to look for and what to ask. What happens to your building, your costs or your property's value depends on many things we don't control. We don't promise any result, saving or return.
The guides you buy
When you buy a guide, you get a license to use it for yourself and your own buildings. You may print it, save it, and use the checklists and spreadsheets on your own properties.
You may not:
- resell it, share it, or post it online;
- give or send copies to people outside your own team;
- copy it into another product, course or document you sell or hand out.
The guides, lessons, graphics and site content belong to Blue Eyed Capital LLC. Short quotes with credit are fine.
Prices, payment and refunds
Prices are shown on each guide's page in US dollars. Payment is handled by Stripe.
Every guide comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not happy with it, email hello@geteyesopen.com within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund you. Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe.
The weekly lesson and our emails
The weekly lesson is free. Buying a guide also signs you up for it. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email, or by emailing us.
Open Book
Applying for Open Book is free, and applying doesn't guarantee a spot. We choose the founding buildings ourselves. Open Book plans and working sessions are education and planning help, under the same terms as the rest of Eyes Open: they are not engineering services and not an engineering opinion on your building.
Using the site
Please don't misuse the site: no bots, scraping, spam, attempts to break in, or sending false details through our forms.
Other sites
Links to other sites, including Stripe's checkout and our Substack, are there for your convenience. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies.
Limitation of liability
The site, the lessons and the guides are provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any decision you make, or any loss, damage or cost that follows from using our material;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost profit, lost rent or lost property value;
- if we are found liable for anything, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the product involved in the last 12 months.
Some places don't allow some of these limits. Where that's true, they apply only as far as the law allows.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state courts in Door County, Wisconsin, or the federal court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version goes on this page with a new effective date. Using the site after that means you accept the change.
